Ceramics Foundations: Wheel + Handbuilding
A six-week beginner course covering wheel work, hand-building, trimming, surface design, add-ons, and glazing
$289
A six-week beginner course designed to give you a hands-on foundation in both wheel throwing and handbuilding.
Perfect for absolute beginners and curious creatives, this course introduces the two primary ways of working with clay. Over six weeks, students will learn to throw on the pottery wheel and build by hand, developing confidence through guided projects and plenty of hands-on practice.
You'll explore wheel throwing, handbuilding, trimming, joining and construction techniques, surface design, and functional details such as handles, lids, and spouts. You'll also learn how clay changes throughout the making process and how to successfully take a piece from wet clay to finished pottery.
The final week focuses on glazing, where you'll finish your work using your choice of studio glazes.
By the end of the session, you'll leave with a collection of handmade pieces and a strong foundation in both wheel and handbuilding techniques, giving you the skills to continue exploring ceramics independently.
